The design, inspired by the traditional Thangka art, highlights the Mandala with the Vishwa Vajra at its centre.
The Mandala, which literally translates to “circle” in Sanskrit, is a spiritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism. It is both a representation of an ideal universe and an emblem of the individual viewer’s spiritual journey, and the circular shape represents the interconnectivity between them. It is used widely in meditation as it captures the focus of the individual, projecting them into the realization of the spiritual force within themselves.
The Mandala used in the design carefully places the Vishwa Vajra at its heart, which represents the indestructibility and irresistible force that comes together to depict the absolute harmony in the world. The four partsr of the Vajra represent the four elements – air, water, fire and, earth – that birthed the universe. These elements also depict the life of the individual, as it is from these that we are born, and these that we die into.
The Vajra and the never-ending circular mandala, therefore, symbolize the relationship between the universe and the spirit of the self.
